Three Corrections Officers Remain Hospitilized After Head On Collision (Updated 04/01/2013)
Updated On: Aug 09, 2013

Three Travis County Corrections Officers remain hospitalized after a horrific head on collision which occurred on Saturday night around 1015 pm.

Senior Officer L. Goodloe, Corrections Officer D. Rodriguez and Corrections Officer C. Lueg remained hospitalized as of Sunday evening.  A fourth Corrections Officer D. Lee was released this evening.  Officer Rodriguez is expected to be released tomorrow.  Release dates for Officer Lueg and Goodloe are not known at this time.

The four officers were a part of a car pool.  Shortly after leaving the Travis County Correctional Complex at the end of their shift, they headed North on FM 973, a vehicle swerved into their lane and struck the vehicle the four were travelling in head on.

The driver of the vehicle, who attempted to flee the scene, was also transported to the hospital and charged with Intoxication Assault which is a 3rd degree felony and carries a penalty of 2-10 years in prison and $10,000 dollar fine.

All four officers sustained non-life threatening injuries and are expected to make a full recovery.  Officer Goodloe is resting and should be able to take calls and visitors in a couple of days.
