Officer and husband involved in fatal crash (Article updated 09-05-11 click "Read More")
Updated On: Sep 07, 2011

Around 0330 on Friday morning, Travis County Correctional Officer Melissa Ibarra and her husband Tony were involved in a traffic accident.  Although details of the accident remained sketchy, what is known is the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car.  They were both thrown from the motorcycle.  They were taken to Brackenridge Trauma Center and placed in ICU.  At approximately 1227 today, Tony succumbed to the injuries suffered during the accident.  Officer Ibarra is currently in ICU in critical but stable condition.  Her condition is improving, however, she will face a very long road to recovery.  Her family is requesting privacy at this time so please refrain from visiting until further notice.  Please keep Officer Ibarra, her family, their children and Tony's family in your thoughts and prayers.  More info will be posted as it becomes available.
