CLEAT EXECUTIVE BOARD VOTES NO CONFIDENCE IN THE TEXAS COMMISSION ON LAW ENFORCEMENT (TCOLE)
Posted On: May 125, 2021
Dear Christina,

As you well know TCOLE has been on the insatiable march to expand its power over officers and agencies. It’s players are using the political climate in the aftermath of George Floyd to reach in and upend what’s left of your due process. Go read HB 1550, the Sunset Bill, to see that TCOLE is seeking broad new powers in creating a statewide IA Division, gaining the ability to temporarily suspend licenses with no due process, ordering psych evaluations etc. We have opposed this overreach and publicly testified in opposition.

In an  unprecedented move our CLEAT Executive Board has held a vote of NO CONFIDENCE against TCOLE. This is a bold move by the only union with the guts to stand up and fight.

Please read the resolution and distribute to your members so they know and understand. Please alert your legislators as well.

Highest Regards,

Charley Wilkison
